What we do

We believe that the future is female and the differently abled

For too long, exclusion has hindered the potential of girls and children with disabilities. We don’t simply believe that all communities have the power to end this hopelessness for girls and children with disabilities — we work with these families and communities making it a reality every day. We do this because we believe that the future is female and the differently abled.

Radically changing unjust systems

HOPE Africa is a nonprofit that leads programs that advance policies, train educators and amplifies the voices of families to advocate for greater personalization of gifted and talented programs that improve learning outcomes and increase access to opportunities for girls and children with disabilities. We are using data and technology to radically change unjust systems that impact girls and children with disabilities – and proving that it is possible to make hopelessness, stigma and exclusion of girls and children with disabilities rare. Through our programs, a growing number of countries and communities across the continent are proving this is an achievable reality by reaching milestones in foundational learning in reading and math, transition from school to work, girls’ education and digital equity.

In order to propel this movement, we are working with communities to solve the most persistent challenges that stand in the way. With rigor and data-driven solutions, we are working with communities to:

design programs that are inclusive for students with different profiles, including the most marginalized, so they can develop foundational learning skills to realize their full potential.

amplify the voices of parents and engage institutions, civil society organizations and communities to participate in advancing learning outcomes, equitable healthcare access and well-being for all children.

provide girls and all children with access to opportunities to lead, play and thrive in equitable communities, without stigma or discrimination.

Empowering girls to be leaders

We all know that education, health, and economic opportunity are the rungs that lift individuals to a brighter future. Through our decisive actions to improve learning outcomes, equitable healthcare access, trauma-informed care, sports and equal opportunities for girls, our work in Africa dismantles barriers, empowering girls and children with different profiles to become the leaders of tomorrow. Together, we are proving that these issues are solvable.
