Our Focus Areas

We believe that effectively supporting girls and children with disabilities means investing in the structures that surround them.

For many girls and children with disabilities, barriers stand in the way of reaching their full potential.

Discover how we're working to break down these barriers and creating a brighter future. Explore our initiatives focused on education, healthcare, empowerment, sports, and more.

Education

Education is a cornerstone of Hope for African Children’s mission. We recognize that a strong educational foundation is vital for building a brighter future for girls and children with disabilities in Africa. Our approach is multifaceted, addressing various aspects that constitute learning inequity for this demography.

Health & Well-being

Children with disabilities in remote areas face impassable barriers to healthcare, while girls burdened by period poverty are forced to miss school. We’re creating access to healthcare, menstrual products, sanitation, and hygiene facilities, as well as reproductive health education and awareness for girls and children with disabilities.

Girls Empowerment

HOPE has created a model that radically improves girls’ prospects of becoming independent, influential women. In addition to increasing access to opportunities for girls to lead a life of dignity for themselves and their families, our goal is to also advance sexual and reproductive health and rights through evidence-based programming and advocacy.

Sports for Inclusion

Everyone should be able to experience the incredible physical, mental and social benefits movement brings – whoever you are, however you move. But too many children with disabilities face barriers preventing them from playing. We believe that when used with intention, sport provides innovative and effective solutions to the most complex issues of our time.

Community Support Network

HOPE gives those with a parenting role a voice to lead. Our children are brilliant and deserving of a world-class education. Our current health and education systems have failed generations of girls and children with disabilities so it’s up to us to change it. We are educating and equipping parents with the knowledge and tools to demand radical systemic change.
